You may want to check out Steven Ludwig's page.   He's just finished building (and modifying) One of Spira's boats.  I think it's the Canadian.  He warned me about a few problems with Spira's designs before I had to find them out for myself.

Mostly the Upper Manistee River near Kalkaska, Mi. Best of luck on the boat! This website and a couple people from it have been a HUGE help. Don't know how I would have done it otherwise. Spira has a nice boat, but he seriously is lacking when it comes to instruction!

Yes it is and it’s a treat as you probably know but I’m in no hurry to get it done and I do have allot to learn about boat building. I think for my first boat I should have did a Jon boat HA HA and I do have a lot of questions about different things
