Nothing fancy here, epoxy and varnish except the last six inches which got oiled.

Just finish the oars the way they were intended to be. It appears you might go with some fancy tip coating. In my opinion, I would just treat the entire length the same. Just pay attention to the tips, maybe throw some epoxy at the ends but oil and varnish never hurt an oar...my opinion only. I tried those dang end caps and they rotted the ends -
