Believe it or not I never touched a rock til I got to the next chute. This rapid is very steep but you can't tell from the pictures. We never carried anchors on the Middle Fork of the Salmon. We ran 15 to 20 miles a day so there was not much stopping. You would slow down enough to fish but that was it.
