Works great, but as the back seat swivels the center of gravity of the passenger makes the boat rock. Sometimes a little difficult to anticipate, but it's like learning to ride two people on one bike.
Both boats are a little over 16'. The key is the both bench seats slide on wood rails to adjust the overall weaght distribution. The next boat won't have as deep a front deck so the front seat will move closer to the bow. The pedestal base is a thick pece of fir or built up plywood, with the bottom mating surface sloped to fit the curve of the hull, epoxied and fastened up thrugh the hull. I have seen some boats with this set up, and fiberglassed down but they fail by trying to make them too rigid.
This is the best set up for two guys to fish, whether its Flyfishing, bait casting or float and jig.

What is the length of your boat? I am thinking about reworking my boat for a pedestal in the back. What do you think of the setup?
