I put black mats in my boat for protection from wear and tear - gear, anchors, guests getting in and out with spikes on their wading boots etc.... they are removeable and they don't stop water from flowing through the frame holes.  They work great and I would highly recommend them.

What is the black mat on the bottom of your boat? Does it stop the water from flowing through the holes in the frame?
