Fulmer finished the GEM in 1952 and in this 1955 photo he has taken it to his nephew's concession on a lake in Indiana where there was a boat launch ramp and a dock. The boat was built with srews and caulk as was typical of the time, and as this photo shows, the 15" rocker really stands out.

Hi,

I plundered through your pics and understand a little more. It seems to be a decked and shortened boat(height) with bulkheads instead of frames. 15" rocker is significant. Very nice rendering.

This is a great shot... love the steep rocker and the "rub strips" on the sides (interesting that he didn't run those the full length of the boat)... also like the width of those outside chine caps (built to take a beating).... I like the reinforced oar locks and the "touch" of mahogany.... very cool!!
I'll do a little work on the Rapid Robert and see what I can dig up...
