I started fishing at the age of five spending most of the time fishing ponds, small rivers and coastal waters for trout. I was born and raised in the Netherlands. My father bought me a twenty foot wooden canoe when I was eleven from which I explored the waters and rivers surrounding my place of birth. In France I picked up a fly-rod for the first time to fish the l’-Ardeche for trout and was introduced to white water canoeing. From Spain I fished the Mediterranean sea for it’s Blue Fin Tuna. In my early thirties I acquired a doctorate in Sociology and Business and worked many years as a management consultant and interim manager for local, State and Provincial Governments. After my move to the United States of America I purchased with my lovely wife the McKenzie River Inn Bed& Breakfast and Cabins and trained with Outdoor Ventures to acquire my skills to operate as a white water river guide. This combination of a lodging facility and a guide service ensures guests a great introduction to the Willamette National Forest and the McKenzie River Valley.
