Just bought my first wooden boat. A 16 ft drift boat built from probably a Tatman or Don Hill pattern. I'll be using it primarily on the Kenai River to fish for wild Alaska Rainbows. I came to Alaska in '85 with the Air Force and I've called it home ever since. I've spent a lot of years up here fishing primarily for salmon. 3 years ago I met Will Kimball, another member here, at a rod building class. He introduced me to drift boating at about the time I was getting serious about fly fishing. I knew right away that I wanted to buy a drift boat of my own and finally took the plunge on the last day of 2009. I also spend a lot of time fishing the lakes in my float tube.
Boats I own:
16 ft wood drift boat, 17 ft coleman scanoe, several float tubes
Very nice boat Bob!! I love the "Upper 49th". Hope you enjoy the boat and this site... lot's of good information for upkeep and repair. Seems like someone is always buildin or fixin on these pages. Enjoy.
