Hey Doug,

I read your post and wanted you to know I have plans for a 17x54 drift boat availiable on my website http://www.bakerwooddriftboats.com/ I currently only have plans for the one boat. It does have a lot of rocker and flair but the rocker happens very quickly at the front giving it a very large flat spot (like a boat with less rocker). It also has a wider transom and area under the rowers seat than other wood boats so it motors pretty well. The plans were written for standard sides but it would be easy to make them lower. I didn't want to respond on the main page 'cus I feel like I am stepping on Randy's toes a bit.

I too am from michigan, I went with the spira yukon 16' back in 2008, and was very happy with the build. It was super easy to, and I made my sides 8" shorter 14" wider and the length longer by a foot by putting another support bracket in. On my next build i will go with Hills plans, but of course tweaking it to how i want it . Any plans will work, you need to find what will be best for you and the rivers you are near. Dont be afraid to do some small mods to your plans, it ads a little custom touch to each build. GOOD LUCK
