I ordered the bible "Drift Boats and River Dories: Their History, Design, Construction, and Use" a couple days ago.

I've never owned a boat other than my dads Sea King back in the late 70's.  I'm not getting any younger and I've got the self inflicted itch to build a boat.  It's a Mckenzie style boat that has my attention though a skiff seems very appealing.  The lower Sac, Yuba and Feather rivers in California will be the waters it sees.  Something to chase the trout and steelhead with.

With luck I'll start picking up material in a couple more weeks.  Until then it's more research.
