I have abandoned the idea of shimming the bracket at this point.

I found a shiv / pulley that I am going to mount in the slot that i put into the transom.

I will try and post more detailed pictures as i get it all put together. I am interested to see what you think of it.

There is nothing wrong with shimming the anchor bracket to make the anchor arm level with the water. I would make the shim have as much surface on the bracket as possible, meaning that a shim the size and shape of the bracket would transfer the stress better than a few washers on a bolt.

Any water that is trying to come in the hole is not usually significant. It might equal water that comes into the boat from your boots. Pressure builds up if the waves are big and lots of water would enter the boat over the top of the rail before it would come in through a 1in hole that is well above the water line.

The dierks anchor bracket that came with my kit didn't look right because the angle of my transom was a little (shallow i guess?) compared to most boats i see. If i would have used it it would have been pointing down and i didnt like that. So i got a shiv / through pulley that i will put in the slot in the transom. It made me nervous to drill that hole, and i want people's opinion on whether it is a good solution or not. My only concern is in rougher waters or when anchoring. Do you think water will pile up and enter through the anchor pulley?
