Last Tuesday my friend from Bend and I fly fished the Deschutes very close to the Warm Springs junction. The weather was very cold, but clear. We parked in a camp site parking area and hiked a few hundred yards to the river to begin wading and fishing. My friend forgot to load his waders into the truck and decided to fish in tennis shoes and shorts anyway. I was cold in my chest waders after ten minutes, yet he fished on enjoying every minute. There were five fishermen in the 50-yard stretch of river. One group landed two steelhead and lost two, we landed one and lost one and we caught a handful of white fish.
Half way back to Bend my friend indicated he knew he had toes again.
Beautiful trip and pretty river. This was a first for me.
I hope to drift the Elk this weekend or Monday if the rains do their stuff.

Looks like that rain is going to try to turn to snow. Ahhhh, there's nothing like cleaning ice out of the line guides.
Best of luck.
