Well! Wooden Boat Building has gotten us all fired up.

You've just been to the boat show and seen the price of some of the more affordable glass-fibre or aluminium boats and you just happened to know that you can build a wooden boat for far less than those things cost.

You've been down to the port or harbour and seen the wonderful timber boats being used by all sorts of people; maybe you've even seen a report on the TV about a Family Boat Building day held in some city where "families built a whole boat in just a weekend".

You just know that there is no way that you can’t build a wooden boat.

Wooden Boat Building should be easy for a handy man; and I would agree with you.

Go for it; you can Build Your Own Boat; but before you begin there are a few things you should consider.
A few things that are vital to the health, wealth and happiness of yourself, your family; and your neighbours and friends.

Things that aren’t rocket science, that should be obvious but that are all too often forgotten about in the enthusiasm which precedes the start of most Wooden Boat Building Projects.
These things if not carefully considered can mean that the project doesn’t go ahead, or if it begins it is never finished, or if finished it is at tremendous cost in $ terms and in emotional toil.
I have made a list of the ten most important questions that you must answer.
Things that can mean disaster for your wooden boat building project if not given careful consideration, before you begin.
They are available for Free at http://www.woodenboatbuilding.net/

hi there mate ive read all of the questions about boat building, very helpful but ive already started.. you said next time you be looking at different methods of boat building, well as i can see most people building boats just use plywood and glue, but with mine as im building mine in the spare bedroom in my house and i have'nt got that much money to play with , im using 2 inch by 1 inch wood to do the frame, glueing and screwing in place and using 3mm plywood for the sides, bottom , will be glueing and screwing in place, then covering the whole boat in epoxy resin to harden and watersteal the boat, then useing varnish to finish it off , taking in mind i have desinged the boat myself as i didnt want to pay for sumbody elses plans..... the way im doing it , ive never seen somebody esle do it that way, i see it this way im trying to make it strong as possible as i live in england, scarborough north yorkshire and i will taking it into the north sea and it can get abit rough, please follow my blog and im open to any advice you may have ??????
