Trying to figure out origins of Antique Drift Boat

Hi Wooden Boat People,

I have a wooden drift that was purchased used in 1969. I am trying to figure out who made it and where it was built. I have been told many time over the years that it looks like a Keith Steele, but from info I have seen on this site I doubt it is a Steele boat.

It is 14 ft. 9 in. in length on the top and has a max width on top of 6 ft. There are 10 ribs and the drain is in the floor near the base of the transom. The anchor bracket is removable to make a cut out in the transom for mounting an outboard motor. This seems like a fairly unique feature, as I have not seen it on other older drift boats.

Any insight on where and by whom this boat was made would be greatly appreciated.

She (Eagle Eye) is still a great working boat for fishing and duck hunting. Always stored indoors so no rot and no leaks.

If Keith built it, his son Steve will have the record.  You can call him in Lebanon, OR.  Steve is still churning out wood boats, some faithful to Keith's specs, some frankly better based upon Steve's evolutionary modifications.

If you want to know if Keith built it, call Steve Steele in Lebanon, OR.  He is building these boats, and has Keith's records as to boats his dad built.

Look like a Wilard Lucas to me, the front casting brace and the way the stem is cut is identical to the "lucas" i used to own
