Event Description

Since Greg Hatten the normal boat wrangler for the annual parade is floating someplace in the Grand Canyon I get the pleasure of formally announcing the annual Wooden Boat Parade. The original parades started some time in the late 1920's or 1930's. You can partake in the modern version yourself. Driftboaters need to bring their boats to the Finn Rock boat launch site early enough to get their vehicles shuttled (for free) and have their boats ready to float by 10 AM. We then travel as a group down to Eagle Rock Lodge. There the boats will be beached and become part of the display at the 7th Annual McKenzie River Wooden Boat Festival.

We need a couple of volunteers to drive garden tractors to assist in moving boats to the lawn and trailers to the boats when the event is over. Contact Rick Newman. If people can help shuttle please contact me too.

Comment by Jayson Hayes on April 23, 2012 at 5:54am: oh ya, just a heads up too, the Mckenzie looks like it will be running at about 4ft for the parade so anybody with little rowing experience may want to just sit this one out, clover point is going to much different than previous years, safety first right?
