Here on the muskegon river we swing flies from our boats because the river doesn't have much wadable water. We pull anchor, drift 3ft. drop anchor and make another cast. So the traditional anchor systems just don't cut it (especially for us old guys with bad backs). So this is pics of the mounting plates for a 12 volt power winch. We plated the transom for added strength. this will operate a 30 lb. chain anchor

Robert,
Do you mount the 12 VDC winch in the 1/2" aluminum plate welded to the profiled plate? Looks like a nice set-up. What unit did you use for the winch?

Phillip, Yes this is a River Larry winch
We launched the pram on saturday for her maiden voyage after all the modifications. I was pleasingly surprised how well she did with the added weight of a 55lb motor 3 gal gas tank. A 50 lb optima battery, 40lb of chain anchor and winch plus 2 200lb men. The little pram drafted very well. The little 6 hp Johnson pushed her up and down stream at full throttle very well. I think because of the rocker being less than a standard drift boat helped keep the nose down under power. I was really impressed. Thank you Jason Knight for such a great build and Dave Z for a great little design. Robert
Man that looks great!!! you did really nice work on the Pram and total justice to the design with the motor mount! Love it!
Looks great Robert. Nice work!
Robert,
Heck of a nice looking boat! Congrats! Thank's for the info.
Are you going to the Great Lakes Spey Fest at Henning Park in Newaygo Saturday the 30 th? I've talked to a couple of guys with DB's who plan on attending. It should be a good day. Maybe we'll see you there.
Phil W.
Phillip, I won't be able to make it next week because I was just there. I will be back on the Muskegon later in oct. though to start the steelhead season. If Pete Humphreys, Kevin Feenstra, and all the boys are there tell them I said hi. Its probably best I don't show up because I'd be buying new spey rods, reels ect. Robert
