So we decided to make another run up to the AuSable this past weekend. We got up Thursday and found a cool campsite relatively close to the river... it is a horse trail campsite and we had the entire place to ourselves. (I suppose the down pouring rain kept the crowds at home.)

So we floated Friday morning and ended up floating Saturday evening. The river was quiet and the canoe people stayed at home - so now we had the river to ourselves as well.

First day went pretty good as I had hoped... I was satisfied with the numbers and action.
It POURED rain all night on Friday and let up on Saturday afternoon... so we got to it around 1 p.m.
Action was very good all afternoon... lots of rising fish, decent sizes and Christine was running the dry fly show off the front...

When it got closer to sunset we had an epic white fly hatch - that is when the fun really started. Fish were everywhere and we were on fire for about 1/2 hour. I was in awe - it was a great time.

The boat is the most amazing tool for getting into the fish. I was able to get Christie into drifts that were otherwise impossible - and it usually paid off. She loved it.

Here are a few pics from the weekend. Lots of the same gratuitous boat pics - but what can I say.
Thanks for looking!

These were the average - mixed bag of rainbows and browns. (even a brookie)

What section was this above or below Mio?
That is the section below Mio... down to McKinley.
Jason, that boat looks better each time I see it. Great job. I'm glad it's getting you on the water and into fish.
I would love to row your boat down the Nestucca in December and look down my nose at the tincan and tupperware boats. That thing is rich !
Thanks guys - it has been fun so far.

I actually met another guy on the river this past weekend with an older Tatman kit... 17'
I was surprised how different it looked from my boat - having the higher sides and all... it was interesting...
His boat was painted green with a varnished interior - pretty cool.
Jason, You are wise beyond your years... your girl, a boat fishing and the outdoors. Wish I had done more of that ... time together... coming up on 30 years the end of this month. Thanks you. Steve
