Anyone running one like his final dory as in Roger's book (pg 75). I'm wondering how big of a motor? I think in the book they mention a 75lb motor; which was most likely a 20 hp (15hp today). Anyone know how it goes? jb

PS Key Largo sunset... if ya haven't been ya need to go.

Jb - You're assumption is correct about the motor size. Bob Pritchett always used an extended tiller so he could stand just behind the oarsman's seat -- one hand on the tiller, and the other grasping a rope tied off to a gunwale for balance -- in order to help trim the boat. The narrow transom and rake at the transom end still gave rise to a fairly inefficient use of the motor. However, it performed considerably better than the fully rockered McKenzies. When I can locate them, I'll post a photo or two. Also have some great footage of many of these old boats at work. I may lean on Randy some time for a little guidance in helkping me post some of the footage on my site. It is truly great stuff.

Here's a picture of Bob standing in one of his boats. You can see the small motor on the back. This photo came from the history section of the Wooldridge Boats website. They were kind enough to give me permission to use it for the very brief history section of McKenzieRiverDriftBoats.com.

Roger, I can help you out anytime... we can even do it via web and email. Just give me a shout when you are ready.
Y'all guys are a great source of knowledge. Thanks for sharing.
