Finally finishing the boat but its Winter. So it stays in storage until Spring. I did get some testing on my lake. It spins like a top. Can't wait to try it on the river.

Your drifter looks fantastic... please tell us what finish you used inside and out.  Thanks

Thanks. The finish inside is a linseed oil, turp, jap drier mix. Outside is the "Total" boat paint from Jamestown. I used their primer also but had problems with it. After a week the primer was still not dry so I had to sand most off. But the paint is a good glossy enamel type finish.

Nice!  What size is that? 14'?  I am just starting a project on a 14' Rogue.

Thanks,

It's a 14 foot Don Hill plan. Oars are wrapped with leather and sewn with the baseball stitch. I mounted the anchor on the side to allow for an outboard. I was impressed when I saw another one of these boats moving up river with three aboard and only a 4 HP motor.

Looking good, I am finishing a Don Hill 16' er.

Bill,

Great looking boat.  I'll keep an eye out for you this Spring on the Manistee.

I built oars and added a wood burned graphic of a fly fisherman casting in the direction of the water for the right and left sides.

Bill,

Nice looking job on the fly fisherman.  Looks like it's on the seat frame?  What wood did you make the oars from?  I made mine from ash w/ Mahog. trim but they are too heavy for my liking. Been thinking of using some basswood I have...

Phil:

The fly fisherman is on the oars. They are laying across the seat so it looks like the seat frame. I used the Pete Culler plan where you cut an oar out of a single 8" board. I used 8  ft pine but they are a bit too short. Probably 8 1/2 to 9 ft would be better.

Bill

Nice lines to the drifter. I like the colour scheme. You are sure to have lots of great adventures with her.
