OK - this is the last one before the season, I promise!! I had a lot of early morning trips for steelhead last year and liked to start the day with the rods already "strung up" and ready to fish. I needed a good Rod Carrier so I could hit the river with the rods fully assembled with fresh leaders, fresh knots, and my favorite flies. (I added a little bamboo to the bottom circle just for fun... thanks again, Chet).
I slide the seat "pipe" through the top hole so it dangles freely from the seat at just the right height for the reel to be a few inches off the deck....
I made a tricky little piece to secure the rod to the rowers seat with a little padding...
(I'm still adding padding to both of these.....)
OK - Now I'm ready to start the season...

Greg,
By the way, my first trip down the Rogue, I swept the wall at Upper Black Bar. Lost my oar as it was scrubbed off by the wall. I did make it through, but what a first trip.....
Lots of fun over the years......

Herb,
I'm headed back down there in a few weeks before the permit season... we did a mid March trip last year - the fishing was really good and the canyon was empty.
Can't wait... I'll try to stay off the wall at Black Bar this time!! I've got plenty of beauty marks on the boat by now, don't need another one.
