OK - this is the last one before the season, I promise!!  I had a lot of early morning trips for steelhead last year and liked to start the day with the rods already "strung up" and ready to fish.  I needed a good Rod Carrier so I could hit the river with the rods fully assembled with fresh leaders, fresh knots, and my favorite flies.  (I added a little bamboo to the bottom circle just for fun... thanks again, Chet).

I slide the seat "pipe" through the top hole so it dangles freely from the seat at just the right height for the reel to be a few inches off the deck....

I made a tricky little piece to secure the rod to the rowers seat with a little padding...

(I'm still adding padding to both of these.....)

OK - Now I'm ready to start the season...

That's IT - let's fish...

Greg,

By the way, my first trip down the Rogue, I swept the wall at Upper Black Bar.  Lost my oar as it was scrubbed off by the wall.   I did make it through, but what a first trip.....

Lots of fun over the years......

Herb,

I'm headed back down there in a few weeks before the permit season... we did a mid March trip last year - the fishing was really good and the canyon was empty.

Can't wait... I'll try to stay off the wall at Black Bar this time!!  I've got plenty of beauty marks on the boat by now, don't need another one.

Nice additions Greg. The only thing I see you boat needs is a fish box. I love the one under the seat of my Wille. It does duty as a fish box, gear holder on multi dayers, and an ice box full of beer on occasion.

I hope to make it to the Wood boat show, but man I got a lot of things going right now. This weekend we are either rafting the Upper Klamath or North Umpqua, hasn't been decide yet. Next weekend I go in for some surgery which will put me out of action for awhile, but not to long hopefully as the Upper Klamath raft race is happening April 9-10th. Another North Umpqua trip or Driftboat Rodeo on the Mckenzie is on the schedule April 15th-17th, then the Boat show at the end of the month, and..... let us not forget the Rogue trip may 6th-8th. I doubt I can hit them all, so I have some pickin and choosin to do.

Mike
