As I near the finish of my project,18 foot Don Hill Flyfisher, I need away to transport it to water . Is there any recomended length of trailer to length of drift boat? I do have a set of Glen-L plans to build a 16 to 20 foot trailer, but noticed from several pictures on this site, the boats hang well off the end of the trailer. Thanks Steve Sobba

I am currently building the Don Hill 18 ft. fly fisher as well. As far as I can tell the length of the trailer should not be a huge issue. It should just hang off the back a little further. I am more concerned about finding a drift boat trailer that can handle the 54 inch bottom. Most of the used trailers I have found are 54 inches between the wheel wells and that does not allow for any wiggle room at the ramp. Best of luck.

Thank you. Good point. Did go back and look at my plans for the 1800 series boat trailer. Can be made 28 inch center line would equal 56 inches wide and 16 to 18 feet long or 34 inch center line would give you 68 inches wide with a length of 17 to 20 ft. by plans. Would have to see where the bow dock support would be placed for the correct length. Looks like I am going to have to build it ...more time out of the water. Steve
