Two questions
First question. I am going to install my rub strips. 3M and a few screws to fit them to the sides?
Second question. I am using alaskan yellow cedar for my ribs. I was planning to use it for my floor boards but it seems really soft to be stepping on constantly. Is there another type of wood that might be more durable?

We use epoxy to install the rub strips. Two nails or screws on each frame. Some believe that they should be screwed on without glue so they can be replaced. I don't like water trapped behind the rub strip and the side of the boat.
Most of our floor boards are cedar to eliminate weight. Yes they are soft, especially of someone is in your boat with cleats. You can tape out a pattern on the floor board then varnish and apply some fine sand before it is dry. This will toughen the areas you are worried about without adding too much weight.
There are a lot of more durable woods that would work well. Most are much more heavy. The compromise is weight to toughness.
