Welcome, Herb. Pretty boat and great photos. I've got to say that I am impressed by the camp kitchen setup, most especially that frying pan!

Welcome, Herb. I see WA and MI in your profile - are you a fellow Michiganian? I've also got a Tatman (16'). In the photo of your camp, that is the largest frying pan I've ever laid eyes on - I need one of those!

great history Herb. I could tell just by looking at the water you float.

I've only been to the OP once. That was the summer before last in august. Only fished it on the very low end of the Quilleute (sp) Fishing was off by far. We did not take the drifter instead fishing tide water out of a Achillies.

I've never been on any rivers in Idaho nor the Rogue.

thanks again for posting your pics, post em when you get them.

Hi Herb. Great looking boat you've got there and great pics. I've built a 17 foot Briggs Grand Canyon dory and been down the canyon several times, recently just finished a traditional 15 foot Mckenzie with transom from Fletcher's plans. Couple of questions; I've been down the middle fork several times in rafts, but what is your water level cut-off for drift boats? and would you think the Briggs dory is too big for that stretch? thanks for your input, Jim

thanks for the information Herb. Hope to get back up there this june. talk soon, Jim

Hi Herb. I was just reading your post about white water on the forum and noticed that you guided on the Eagle. When was that? I guided on the Eagle a bit - from '95 to '97. Mostly worked on the Blue, Williams Fork, and Colorado. Most of that time I was guiding for the Orvis shop in Breck. Seems we have more in common than living in MI.

Expensive indeed! I had to work 2 jobs in addition to guiding - basically leaving me w/ no time to play; which was the reason I moved out there in the first place. Did you fish Gore Creek much? I never did, but always heard good things about it.

Thanks for the welcome Herb, I actually built my boat from scratch, so hopefully it will float. No one will go out with me for the first trip. I am in the final stages and need to sand before painting. I am guiding on the Bighorn at the end of march so I am hoping to get everything finalized and ready to float before then.

Herb, I saw that you sent me a message but my computer was infected and I couldn't sign on to WBP until just now. I haven't seen your message in total but would now be happy to provide an answer if I can.

Hi Herb, thanks for the words of welcome! I am glad you enjoyed my pictures, I really enjoyed taking them. I just checked out your photo album and love the exterior paint jobs on those boats! In a couple of the photos I feared for the paint with the proximity of some rocks in what is certainly some pretty fast water! Beautiful rivers you run and some nice steelies to boot! Bristol Bay is awesome, truly the "Last Frontier" of trout fishing! Also thanks for the words of advice on refinishing! I appreciate it. Talk at you later

    Will

PS, just how in the heck did you stack up those 4 boats on one trailer?
