Ok, I just got done weighing my boats.  The decked 14' dory weighs 285 lbs.  

The framed hull, empty with no trim, seats, floors or other interior fixtures weighs 165 lbs.  (That is with about 30 oz of fiberglass over the entire exterior of the hull)

The finished open Mckenzie drift boat (same hull as the other), with interior fixtures, trim, floors, seats, hardware, etc... weighs 255 lbs.  

So between the finished open boat and decked boat is only about 30 lbs.  Which confirms how they felt in the water... I couldn't really tell the difference between the two, except that I feel the decked boat is much burlier, and safer in whitewater with all the built in flotation.

Yeah.  I thought about taking it to the landfill, but I would have to make 3 trips because I want to weigh two boats...  It is quite a ways away, so I weighed the costs, and ordered a hanging scale for cheaper than I thought 3 trips to the landfill would be.  As soon as it comes, I will weigh the boats and reply.  I'm afraid they're going to be so heavy it is embarrassing, but whatever, I enjoy building and rowing them.

Hi Rick, To be honest I have no idea about weight. This is my second boat build.  The first boat I built is the exact same hull as this one and is a copy (including all the interior fixtures) of the small Hindman double ender in the book by Roger Fletcher.  I still have that boat, and am very curious to know what the weight difference is between the two.  I will get back to you.  Any ideas on what the easiest way to weigh a boat is?
