Hey Larry,
The joint on the sides is just a butt joint with woodflour, then a layer of fiberglass is over the layer of kevlar. Same on the bottom. Plus the bottom will have a coating of Linex. When the sides attached to the bottom there will be a layer of 10"wide 12oz biaxle glass both on the inside of the chine and the outside. Should be pretty strong. It is just a fishing boat afterall. I am going to put a level floor in the front and in the rear for the two flyfishers and I should have bought another sheet for that, It would have saved me some weight, but it will be 1/2 plywood.
The reason that I didn't dowel or spline it is, epoxy won't stick to the plascore interior honeycomb. So their really isn't a good way to splice it other than the way I did it in the middle which are dovetails.
Thanks for asking
Scott

HI Scott,
Just looking at some of your build photos. Was wondering what joint you used on the sides of your plascore bottom. Did you slot it and us splines or dowels?
I got 16 sheets of plascore last spring. The freight cost is so high that it doesn't work getting 1 or 2 sheets. I got 5 X 10 foot sheets so I could make 60 inch wide bottoms. The stuff is so strong I didn't bother to use kevlar on my last boat. When I make my next order I may even get some 1 inch thick stuff for white water boats. I don't think many river rocks will be able to punch through 1 Kevlar covered plascore.
