here is the quick bottom replacement. the owner of this boat was fishing a few days before i got it. the reason he brought it to me is that it was leaking slightly. at first look there was no damage. when i started poking around my hand went through the bottom. the only thing holding the bottom together was the UHMW shoe. anyway if your boat is leaking you have a bigger problem than you think, but it's not the end of the boat. i would recommend that if you have a leak you take care of it before it eats the chine out. more on that later.

I think a drift boat bottom replacement is in my future, thanks for putting a face on the task. Nice work.

this bottom was bedded really well with 3M 5200 so it was a little harder than normal, but that is also the reason that the frames and the chine are not rotten. if you just peal it off it will blow all the frames out. i saw out the sections between the frames then use a router to get up to the frames. then i chipped out the rest until i could belt sand it clean.

Hey Sandy - question...
Isn't the plywood bottom really hard to get separated from the bottom of the frames if it was glued when the boat was built? I was just wondering if it is hard to do that repair without damaging the frames. Just curious - thanks!
