So its looking like Ill get the oppertunity to build another boat this winter. Many thoughts are running through my head, one of the biggest is the finish of the boat (paint, varnish, oil, etc.). After talking with a sailor I am starting to think that paint would be the best option for what I am looking for (durability, low maintenance). I have done oil before but I feel like it does not provide all that much protection, plus I would like to do epoxy fillets on the decking that I will be doing so I feel like I have to paint over it. However I love the look of a wooden boat so I'm thinking I will varnish a few key pieces (frames, sheer rails, smaller parts). Ill be posting more specific questions in the forums section as I build and think more. But I few starter questions:

• Whats the best top side paint? Im looking for a good color, durable, hopefully not bank breaking paint for interior. For that matter whats a good exterior paint as well? I used Sherwin Williams enamel last time. I really like the color, but it does not seem to be durable at all!
• Whats a good varnish? As far a maintenance goes if I re apply once a year will it last?
