My brother-in-law has had a drift boat sitting in his driveway for a few years. Today he told me I could have it if I wanted it. I hooked onto it and made it to the first tire store and had to replace one tire. I did not get much of a look at the boat until I got it home (four hours later). I looks identical to the boat featured on the 2009 McKenzie river Festival cover. It has a plaque with the name Steeles Boat Shop and the stamped number 72357. A quick examination of the boat shows it will at the least need a new bottom. I hope I can then assess any other damage, can anyone tell me of a good resourse that will help we with this task? Thank You

I just checked my Dad's (Keith Steele) records and the boat you have was built in 1972 for Jim Smith. I currently build my dad's style McKenzie River driftboats. It is always fun to come across one of Dad's old ones. The boat was built before the Coast Guard started requiring so many numbers. Keep me posted!

I will be glad to provide information as needed for boat identification and for boat restoration

Best of luck with your restoration. Post a lot of photos and progress and many people here will help you out.
Do you have the rest of the numbers on the plaque? The number should start with SKH, then 72357 then four more numbers.
