I have the plans for a 16' drift boat, but it would take a rocket scientist to figure out all these measurements and get it right. Any one out there happen to have a set of TRACEABLE rib patterns that you could sell me a copy? Even cut them out on scrap wood, I don't care.
We can discuss the price by PM... Thanks

"Frames"....What people often wrongly call Ribs, the proper term is 'frame'...While I realize that there are lots of terms that are pretty weird when it comes to boats, ribs are what animals have inside, boats have frames.
We might as well use the proper terms here on Wooden Boat Discussion... Do not forget the limber holes in your frames.
My plans call them RIBS... that's what I'm sticking with.
I know, after working on some of the more well-known builder's boats, that many famous river boat builders were often self-taught Boatbuilders who had some gaps in their knowledge. They may have called frames 'ribs' in your plans, but that is not right. There ARE other boat parts called "Ribbands"...These are fore and aft strips that hold the frames in place.
I guess everyone here knows what you mean when you say 'Ribs' so keep on sayin' it, if you want, but now you also know the proper term you could use, too...Happy turkey day all.
