Storage Netting Under Casting Deck

Ok so I decided that maybe it would be helpful to have some type of cargo net to hold stuff up under the casting deck... I was thinking of maybe putting a couple hooks on frame 9 so a bungee and maybe some type of net or stop could be put in place to keep stuff from falling out of there. (I just don't want to create more things for fly line to get hooked on in the process)

We usually keep the couple PFD's and the small camp grill up there along with some other misc. stuff. It seems to like to fall out onto the casters feet every so often.

Have any of you guys done anything to secure stuff up there? Looking for some ideas!

You should check out Sandys pictures on the montana boat builders website, he took the flyline deck off and replaced it with a trout net. Pretty cool....kind of

yeah I saw that net idea - pretty cool - but I like the casting deck and the ability to stuff things under there and keep in relatively dry and out of sight during the day.

I'm tinkering with the exact same thing in preparation for my trip to the Rogue.... last year, the stuff I "stuffed" up there came tumbling out a couple of times and I'd like to find a way to keep it more secure....

For two boats now, I have gone to the local Harley Davidson shop and bought some of their storage netting. It's basically a smaller version of a netting that one would use to secure a load in the back of their truck. It comes with small eye hooks and multiple "S" hooks so you can adjust the netting to suit your needs. In both boats, it has worked out perfectly for items you need to store. Although, I have never had a grill up there...just PFD's, T.P., and the like.

Thats a good idea... I will have to check in to that.
The grill we take is small btw it fits snugly on the floor under the casting deck... it's more the PFD's and a couple small dry bags that keep falling out.

This was my approach - dry storage under and PFD storage in between.

Jon - That is a great solution... I could probably retrofit my boat at some point for a dry compartment up front... I would have to design it around/in front of frame #9... Thank you for sharing that pic.
