Well, I've finished the frames of a 16 dB and boy what a lot of work this is going to be... Since that's the case I'd like to do something special and maybe a little different for the finish. I'm thinking iron oxide aged. Picture two tone, grey on charcoal with the grain showing through. Sitka and sepelle with ss fasteners, dulled out with steel wool. I can't decide if epoxy and varnish would compliment this look or maybe an oil finish. Discuss

When I started by boat I was gonna paint. Then I decided I really wanted a natural matte finish (still not out of the question) but now that I`m getting this high gloss varnish going, it sure is pretty. After 4 or 5 coats of high gloss is when I have the option to put a matte finish over it. I might have to think about that for a year or 2 :)

I like the grey/ charcoal/ grain idea, sounds good. It is alot of work, more than I thought when I started, but I did get a little carried away cause like you said after all this I want some character in it, and more money than I thought too, cause character cost money!! Now Ive learned though where I could cut costs a bit if I ever build another one.

So start posting your build thread so we can watch......

Trying to figure out the pictures from a phone thing...
