floor boards cantilever past the rib

I noticed in some photos that some floor boards are installed that extend past one of the ribs by what looks like 4 to 6" is there a reason for this? thanks

most likely to gain some floor space. I hung mine over a couple inches at best. I guess as long as it cant flip when you stand on it its all good
