I had a 60" by 18" 2x6 framed dolly with carpet on top and steel casters that went right under the center of the boat, then I put chocks under each end when I had it where I wanted it so I could work on it.  Then I was really careful what trailer I got so the tongue is just short enough to get in the garage with the boat on it, but still long enough for good towing.  Now she just lives on the trailer which moves easily enough.

Casters

Got a Harbor Freight dolly on sale for $7.99 (cheapest way to buy casters) and put the casters on 2x6's.  I have seen some people build a big 4'x4' box dolly, but the two separate 2x6's are easier to store when no boat is on it.  The caveat with the separate "roller planks" is that they tip over with no boat on them.  May need to add a small block on the bottom (1/4" above the floor) to keep them upright when not loaded.

Works great to move my boat around my shop.
