THANKS
And thanks to all my brothers and sisters that serve and have served in the Armed forces.
As I have mentioned before I am also a knifemaker and bowyer; my first true loves. There have been many occasions where I have spoken on the internet with people for months on a subject pertaining to these crafts only to find that they were in fact women.
When I finish my boat it will be extremely obvious that no woman had anything to do with it.
On her blog- great boat - real cool paint job too!
Right after joining this website a bunch of months ago I was a bit slow catching on to the whole Ukulele-lady name (probably a couple weeks until Kelly posted pictures of her launch or maye when I figured out that people actually had home pages). I honestly thought it was a last name - I guess I' ve known more guys to go by last names than women so I at first figured..guy; even though I knew there were women boat builders on the site. Also I'm in academia so I see all manner of strange last names- don't even look twice at the spelling..
Funny, I was picturing, eastern european maybe turkish ancestery based on my intepretation of the "name".
The web is a funny thing.
I have used several of these products that create a filler for any type of hole or un-evenness. The one that I have been using steady with good success is the Aerosil-Cabosil. Mix a regular batch of plastic, then add one or two volumes of Cabosil with a drill, when it sets without moving its the right consistency to start using. Avoid too vigorous of a mixing as this mixture might remain pretty runny until it gets too hot and sets. Drywall metal blades will appy this well over flatter applications. Sometimes I use a squeegee, when creating fillets my favorite tool is a kitchen rubber spatula, the kind that is symmetrical - vary the pressure to vary the radius. It sands easily.
