Just wanted to share some pictures with all of you.  Had some extra time
over the holiday and got all of the frames built.  They are not set up
to specs just spaced for effect in the pics.  Enjoy, and if you see
anything you want to critique or mention go right ahead.  I appreciate
all of the input!

Looking great.

There is no real reason to have to build the boat on a strong back. One of the big advantages to framed boat building is that the frames at the proper offsets create the hull without the need for a strong back.

The way you are building is also fine. Bob Pritchett, one of the Rogue builders also used a strong back.

The following link is of Sanderson Dersham doing a build in two days at an Oregon FFF show. It shows off the process of getting a hull built the free form way and how far he was able to get in two days with the frames pre-built.

Thanks so much Randy! I wish the plans I had purchased had come with specs for the ply sides. I would be able to do exactly what you've shown me here. I thought of trying to figure dimensions by the plans but have yet to delve into that. On the next boat I will most likely buy plans for a boat that is built free form like yours and the boat shown here. Thanks again!
oh, I didn't realize that you don't have dimensions for the sides. That would be a very important part of free form building. Yes indeed.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you are building. It does make installing the chine log a little easier. Enjoy your build it will be great fun and please keep the pictures coming.
