I know there is some consternation about UHMW shoes, but I am looking into all my options and am curious about what thickness of UHMW one uses to cover the shoe.
There are some very thin UHMW products that can be attached to a shoe. They are a film made for the snow board industry. When tried on drift boats they have proven too thin to withstand the weight. Scratches can penetrate the film.
1/8 in UHMW will buckle as it expands and contracts causing too many extra ripples.
1/4 inch is the proven compromise. It is very slick and tough. It is a wonderful performing shoe; however, it requires a close eye to prevent rot.
