Z's Drifter Pram

Hey gang. Starting Oct 1st, Roger and I will have plans available for my River Pram/Skiff design that I built earlier this year. Roger and I had collaborated throughout this past summer to get the lines together, refine the text and provide detailed instruction on the build through written word and photographs. It was an awesome project from start to finish, and "coast to coast"! For those who do not know, I am from Pennsylvania, not historically known for its drift boat heritage. We had fun with the project and because of the amount of interest generated in the boat through the man emails I have gotten, we put a set of plans together.

Thanks to you guys for developing the plans for this boat. I can think of several rivers here that craft would be right at home on.

I agree Jason... I live near the middle Snake river, this boat will be AWESOME there... toss it in the pick-up and GO, no fuss no muss! Also, I may try it on the South Fork of the Boise River (mostly class II and III rapids), I should be able to sneak the rough stuff.

I used to live on the Main Salmon.. there will be a lot of runs there that this boat can make too... Surely I will take it for some Spring Steelhead runs, near Challis, Idaho.

Got the plans today... they are GREAT!

I have no questions yet... except where did you get your anchor system?

Everyone should get some of these plans from Dave and Roger... and Roger's book (from RiversTouch.com) too if you don't have it already.

Nice job with producing another set of plans for the rest of us to drool over! How do the lines of your boat compare with the Don Hill mini drifter? Of particular interest to me would be bottom width and rocker. I really like your simple yet functional adjustable seats and shelf. Anyone who fishes from a boat knows how important a handy storage shelf can be. I built my son/d-in-law's trapper without side shelves or seat shelves. I think I may need to modify it for them some day to reflect your design.

Oh..is the bottom 1/2" with oiled 1/4 bottom shoe on these two builds?

This boat is a bit longer than the mini drifter, but there are some parallels in the design- rocker is flatter, sides ar elow for easy in and out, ease out of the wind too.

The set design and shelf is very nice. I'm toying with altering my 16x48s in a similar matter.
