I am getting close to being finished with one of Dave Z's drifters.  I need to get a set of 8' oars.  I just don't want to tie up time right now making a pair when I could be finishing up the boat.  Can anyone make a recommendation?  They don't have to be the best because I eventually will make a set but just something to get me through the season.  Next winters project can be oars if needed.  Thanks

Recomend Barkly sound, but warning You may never want to get or build another set, they are that nice.

Ron,

Get that thing done already!  I want to see it soon!

Oars- check out www.clavey.com

The sawyer utility oars will work.  a buddy has them in his skiff- same boat.  i believe his are 7'6".

I'm working on two pairs right now, Ron.  I have some air dried ash that has been laid up in my basement for 6 years.  Solid 1-piece oars.  I have a set roughed out right now.

If you get some wood, we can whip up a pair in a weekend.

Dang - looks like I should get into the oar manufacturing business!  Thanks guys.  I am checking out all the options.  If I wasn't in a hurry to get the boat on the water I would make a pair.
