Excellent! On long Grand Canyon trips i have taken to rowing standing. It eliminated "boaters but". The rope seat looks like it will do the same thing, allowing one to air out things, so to speak. Going to have to figure out how to make a rope seat for the GEM.

Hey Dan, what did you use on the wear areas on the bottom of your boat. It looks like some sort of abrasion resistent material. What is it?

Thanks for sharing, yours, tom
I like rope seats for all the reasons you mentioned. The inside bottom of my boat I had sprayed with linex. It's light and pretty thin but tough as nails, the bottom is sprayed as well only smooth.
I like it and its nice and easy to clean out especially the sand and dirt that gets tracked into the boat.

you can get done in different colors too.

Dan,
Nice job on the rope seat!! Hey - thanks for posting some pics of the "Fancy" Boats from the "Wyoming" gathering?? Very cool - wish I could've made it over for that.
Your boat looks awesome - thanks for posting.

Thanks Greg, the Wyoming show was fun, lots of great boats and good conversation about boats... I really want to come to the Big show next year. Glad you like my boat, it is a work in progress I really enjoy rowing it.

Very Cool. I'm looking at the DURABAK product here:

http://www.durabakcompany.com/index.htm

just not sure if i should go with the textured coating or the smooth coating. Gonna have to muck serious mud out of the bottom of the boat, and a textured coating might be very hard to clean??

yours, t
the texture does grab some of the dirt, I would go with the smooth surface so It will be easier to clean.

Dan
We have been using Durabak on the inside of our boats to cover the fir floor, ad a bit of strength, and get the floor color to match the sides. To get a dark brown you need to order their brown and add in some of their black. A gallon of brown and a quart of black will do the trick. Add black to get the brown you are after. You could skip the extra cost and go with black only.

We use the texture because it is a great soft non-slip and is easy to patch without visible lines. It is much harder to clean because it needs to be hosed out and vacuumed with a shop vac. You can't wipe it down with a cloth. The texture is very rough.
Randy,

When you are using this on the fir boats as you mentioned, are up just doing the floor or are you coming up the sides a bit? Thanks in advance.

Jesse
