Where do you keep those "spare parts"... spare oar, spare oar lock... etc. I may have posted a few of these previously so forgive me if I'm repeating myself. Got a few requests lately for a "closer look" - so here you go.
About the only place I could find to keep my spare oar accessible but still out of the way is up against the side of the boat - port side works for me... it's kind of the emergency side of the boat as opposed to the fishin side. I used a leather luggage strap to form the loop for my oar handle and the blade rests against the passenger seat.

Here's a closer look at the little section I created to hold my spare oar locks when transporting... it's just a little piece that I tucked under the oarsman's seat, drilled three holes and there you go...

I have a plastic ammo box. watertight. spare oarlock. 5 minute epoxy, duct tape, screws, bolts, nuts nails, hammer head (you can make a handle out of a stick), first aid stuff, bug repellent, lighter, compass, whistle, matches, fiberglass scraps wrapped folded up and wrapped in saran wrap. Never had to use it, but always glad I have it.
Good one!! I have a Kershaw knife that has a little "saw" blade that I carry just in case I have to saw something... I like your saran wrapped fiberglass - good idea.

Thanks Greg! I can now clearly see how you made your oar locks secured. You seriously come up with some for the coolest ideas for making your boat functional for all situations. Well I am off to the Island Park ID/MT area for a week of chasing Salmon Flies and big ice out trout. We call it a Man-Cation or our annual Fly Fishing Frenzy...I'll post up some pics. Thanks again Greg you rock!!!!
Awesome... "Man-Cation" - great concept. Post lots of pics so we can have a vicarious adventure through you guys. Well done!!

Greg,

I also have one of those multi tools with a saw. The Gerber one. And I have a ring saw in the stash.

There is probably also a Cliff bar in there thats been there for two years. Its probably still good.
Good one... I've always wanted a "ring saw" - good reason to go get one... emergency boat repair.
Thanks. (I think I'll pass on the Cliff Bar... now if it was a two year old "Snickers", I'd be tempted).

I'm kind of responding to two separate posts here. I carry a 3 piece spare oar.The shafts are stored under the rower's seat. The plastic brackets were originally intended for mounting plastic electrical conduit. My spare oarlock fits in a Bucket Boss pliers holster, where it's retained by a hairpin. I carry two plastic boxes. One box holds stuff that I'd like to keep dry and out of the way - rope, towels, bailing scoop, duct tape, a small pulley, etc. The other box is a real dry box. It fits under the fly deck. It carries a first aid kit, a couple of space blankets, hand sanitizer, a flashlight, a multitool, a strobe light and whistle, etc. I don't know if it will show in the photo, but the dry box tended to beat up the forward frame, which is now protected with a plastic cover.
