I am pleased to announce the 2015 McKenzie River Wooden Boat Festival. Join us on Friday evening April 24th for a BBQ at Eagle Rock Lodge. Bring your own item to BBQ and something to share with the group. Starts around 5 PM.
Saturday, April 25th bring your drift boat and join us in a float down the McKenzie River at 8:15 AM at Finn Rock. We will also start to park drift boats on the lawn at Eagle Rock Lodge. The boats that drift will meet us on the lawn when the reach the lodge.
The McKenzie River River Guides will once again sell a wonderful lunch to raise money for a good cause. It is rumored that once again cold and tasty adult libations will also be available!
There is no cost for attending, bring your cameras and stories.

Will do. I'm bringing my two girls, 6 and 3, and they are excited too. I cant wait to see the other boats and all the craftsmanship. See ya there.
Jeremiah, by all means please do bring it. We would love to see it.

Soo, My boat is not completely finished, but i'm bringing it anyway. I cant wait to see the other boats there and just hang out. Can I just go straight to the Lodge and park it on the lawn on Saturday morning? I still got the Chine rails, oars and oar locks, back end anchor mounts and interior to finish, but I want to bring it anyway and show it off. Thoughts?
I saw it on the facebook page for the eagle rock lodge, very nice. can't wait to add it to my collection.
Randy hasn't posted it yet. Perhaps this will spur him on.

Do you have this year's poster out yet?
Mark, the McKenzie is a very straight forward run in that section. If you successfully ran the John Day common sense and asking the others around will keep you out of trouble. The hardest thing that I ever had to learn was timing. When should I start maneuvering in order to put my boat in the best place, i quickly learned that the sooner the better. The faster the flow of the river the sooner to make the move. We will be happy to talk or lead you through the float. I look forward to meeting you.

Thanks for the info on the camp ground, Rick. As it turned out we'll stay at "Heaven's Gate Inn" somewhere between Eagle Rock and Finn Rock. My boat isn't a classic show piece. I didn't build it. But I did do a lot of work on it and the trailer just to get it to, and into the water. The John Day is the only river we've been on so far. So this will be extra exciting for us. I see on Google Earth what looks like two sets of rapids. Are they much of a concern? Looking forward to meeting you all.
