I bought some EZ Fillet to fill some gaps on my project. I'm think I got a bad batch of product. Does not cure like Gel Magic or Quick Fair. After three days I'm scraping it off with a putty knife. The other System Three products have always been hard enough to sand overnight. Have made up three diffcerent batc hes with the same results?

Morning Patrick. We have never had a problem with EZ Fillet not drying overnight. It is a 2:1 mix ratio with a red/brown epoxy and a green hardener. If you are mixing 2:1 epoxy to hardener it should dry overnight. It could be you got a bad batch. Did you buy it from us? If so I know who to talk to and get you a replacement.

We use quite a bit of EZ Fillet because it has a great color and we've never had a problem.
Thanks Randy,

I bought it back back east because I was in a hurry and it was 50% off. I think I know hwy it was such a good deal.Oh well, I'll have to deal with it. I mixed three batches and they all only cared to a stage that would gum up you sand paper. Just not right. Expect some mail from me shortly.
I know someone who has tried it and never used it all up. I mix my only fillet compound and it's very easy. Just mix the epoxy. I add some silica to make it smooth, then thicken with wood flour. Another mixture if the area will be painted is start with silica, next add ground glass fiber/powder finish by adding micro spheres until the mixture will not run down the mixing stick.
I used this product to fill the gap in between the chine batten and the bottom of the boat (tack and tape method) and it worked great. Cured hard as heck. Probably a bad batch - that stuff seems to be pretty forgiving on the mixing anyways.
I would call them and get your money back.
I had three batches in a row not cure right. Only semi hard. Did one more test batch using a larger quanity, and it cured perfect. I had measured proper mixing ratio on smaller batches. Go figure.
Yeah I think my batches were pretty big - one batch per side of the boat if I remember correctly...
