Glue and Boat Soup

Are there any issues with gluing on boat soup'd wood? I want to add accessories like rod holders, etc. to my newly finished boat. Are there any problems using 5200, or epoxy on oiled parts of the boat?

Epoxy is not going to like the oil. Maybe 5200 will. Can you design these pieces to attach to a frame member with bolts or screws?

Oil and glue with work in harmony if the glue comes first, other way around doesn't work so good. Bolt to a frame member or gunwale. Hardware is good. If you do need to get back to square one and remove the oil, try tsp. get the real stuff tho....you need gloves and such. That still will strip oil fit off the wood, and you can recoil later.

Could you not drill a dowel in or even a biskit?This would bring it down to fresh wood for the goo to stick too.
