How do you break your leg when fishing?

Here is a picture of a recent outing where my friend Greg Whitson, who is a decorated Vietnam veteran, after he broke his leg in two places when the sandy bank on the Kilchis River gave way. Kudos to the Tillamook Fire and Rescue Team. They were great!  It's never good when a fishing day ends up in the emergency room. But the boat sure looks good. Be careful out there.

Paul, but did he catch any fish? Sorry to hear that he broke his leg, hope he gets back in the boat soon. Thanks for sharing.

If you are out on rivers, stuff happens.  I was on a chinook flyfishing trip in Alaska, and one of the 3 of us died of cardiac arrest.  I was on another trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, and a guest stumbled on the river bed, hit his ear on an oarlock, and ripped it almost completely off.  Yes, be careful, but also make sure you have first aid training.
