I'm so thankful that I found this forum... I'll read every post over time.
I simply can't afford to buy a drift boat kit, so I ordered some plans and now getting ready to build my first boat. Kinda a pay-as-you-go project, but that's what I like.
Thank you so much for this forum... I'd pay to be a member. smile
Welcome Riverman: Ask any question and you will get a range of answers and benefit from our mistakes. A few suggestions: Beg,borrow, steal or buy Roger L. Fletcher's book "Drift Boats and River Dories"- loads of good information. Take your time and study the plans carefully before you start cutting wood. Use the best materials you can afford- its nice to have Port Orford cedar frames- but lots of boats have been built with eastern spruce. You will spend many hours building- so don't try to use CDX plywood etc from HD- you will regret it in a few years when the thing falls apart or starts rotting out and leaking.
Good Luck
