Ladies and gentlemen

So my wife picked me up a wooden drift boat while I was away for work. It was advertised as a 73 east side wooden drift boat. From what I can gather these were kit boats. If anyone has any other information that would be great.

Second point is after I took a look at the boat I needed an opening in the floor in a well like area at the rear of the boat. Trying to figure out if this is part of the deign or a rebuild mistake? I had it on a lake nearby to check if it floats and no issues. It seemed to take on some water but didn't continue to take on more. Attaching pictures. First one is the well and second is the gap in floor.

Thanks for any and all help

It's a motor well so you can hang an outboard motor on the block with the circular shapes embossed into the surface. You have a nice wife to pick up a drift boat for you. She's a keeper.

With the shape of drift boats when a motor is mounted on the rear it makes the boat somewhat unstable and it is very difficult to travel in a straight line. A motor well may make it a bit better. Do your plans include using a motor or just rowing. It should be possible to remove the motor well and just have a flat floor.

Here's how to post pictures: Right above the word where you type your message you will see a small icon that looks like a picture, it's just to the right of the word LINK. When you click on it you will see a box that says "ADD IMAGE". First choice is "from my computer", below that is a box that says browse. If you click on that you can look through your files containing photos after you navigate to the proper file. After you select a picture it will load and you can then choose if you want it left, right or centered. You can also decide if you want padding or space around your picture, for example 10 pixels will give a small white space around the sides, top and bottom. The last thing is the width of your picture, 720 is common and will fill the page on most computer screens. You can add five pictures if I remember correctly. If you want to add more, close the first post you started with and add a second or third one.

You are not alone in having a tough time in adding pictures. Post here again or send me a message and I'll try to help.

Rick. Thanks for your reply. So the openings at the bottom of the motor well should be of no concern?

Kyle

It all depends if the motor well leaks and how much it intrudes on your space. The boat is made of wood and can be modified back to stock if you desire.
