I am restoring my 35 year old home build drift boat and was wondering if anyone has dimensions for a rope seat? The boat is a 16 x48 - the old seat - well, that is another story. I see pictures posted but was wondering if anyone has dimensions (how wide is the seat, how many rope notches, etc. Thanks for any help - I appreciate it.

you need an odd number of notches. 1/2" notches, 1 inch on centers. I use a turnbuckel, but there are many methods for tension.

My seats are all about 22" wide between the rope supports.

Hope this helps, just kinda fit it in there and cipher a bit, you'll come up with something.
Thank you Dave - that helps. Do you have any pics of your seat - boat pics only...ha - what size rope and blend have you used. Some of the rope I have used in the past gets pretty stretched (of course that is why the turnbuckle is good) - I don't have Roger Fletcher's book - probably need to purchase it as it should have plans for the seat.

Thanks again for the reply.
Chris, I have posted a few seat pictures here for you. They show a diversity of designs to either confuse you or add to your choices. Good luck on your build. I had to post twice to show a wider variety. If I find some more when I get home I send post those too.

These are awesome! You are awesine for posting them. How cool was that - I asked a question and got some great replies. Thanks again for the input and photos. I truly appreciate it. When I rebuild - I will post some photos - don't be surprised if they resemble the ones you just shared. CA
My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed them!

Happy waves to you,

Thanks Rick - for the reply and the photos. CA
I used a 3/8" poly braid with no core. Its soft on your butt, but yes, it does stretch. but that a minor inconvenience. Just retension it.

Here are some pics of my handiwork.
