Duck boat
1 Reply

I have a 12.5 Shelake duck boat is in near perfect shape only problem is the paint is cracking. What is the best way to prep for new paint. Can I just sand like a car and prime and paint ?

Sorry, Ning the content management system we use controls that. The canvas is probably due for replacement. That means that you will have to cut it off and do any needed repairs to the framework. I suggest you check into the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association at http://www.wcha.org/forums/ They have a good reputation as the place to go to learn about repairing wood and canvas boats and canoes.

I inherited a Mallard Queen duck boat it's in near perfect condition has original seats & oars other than that the paint cracked. What is the best way to prep for repaint can I sand it like a car and Prime and paint and there are seams on top by the oar blocks look to be tack down. Also thinking about using bed liner on the bottom for little more durability against abrasions I do realize that will take away value but I want to use it to hunt.
