Great project boat for somebody

I'm just too busy to put any time into this, but someone with the time and skills could have a very nice boat in a pretty short time.

I'm selling my 1985 16ft Rays River Dory.

This was built by them, it's not a kit boat.

It has some rot on a section of the floor and on one of the lower chines, but I've pulled off the UHMW, and it looks pretty sound otherwise.

It's on an older flatbed trailer, and I'm asking $850. for the boat and trailer.

Help w/ repair of an older Ray's Boat?

I have an older boat - A 16ft 1985 Rays River Dories Rogue River Model, with some rot on the floor as a result of an inadequate seal between the original bottom and the UHMW that was attached at some point.

The outside chines are in pretty bad shape as well, so will need to be replaced.

I'd like to repair it without replacing the whole floor.

Is there anyone in or around Bend, OR with some experience in this, that I could go to for help in repairing this little…

Hal - My apologies--I haven't been on this site for a while.  My dad and I have decided to build a new boat this winter, so the prospect of a restoration has faded for me.  Best of luck finding a good home for that beauty - as I'm sure you will.

Best - Taylor

Hello Hal, you don't have to float to bring your boat. The majority of the boats are simply displayed on the lawn. Check the photos on my page from the past events. We can see first hand your boats issues and you can get options for repair than Carter's Liver Little Liver Pills. Well maybe not that many but you will find almost all the experienced Wooden Drift Boat builders and you can get some help.

If you want to get some ideas on your own before you come down, use the search feature and look for chine log repairs. If you haven't yet seen Roger Fletcher's book Drift Boats and River Dories (River's Touch is the name of his web site) it very well explains the construction of these boats. Roger will be at the show too.

Looking forward to meeting you too.

Happy Waves to You!

Hello Hal, will we see you next weekend at the McKenzie River Wooden Boat Festival? It would be nice to meet you and see one of your boats.
